All international students who wish to pursue their studies in an English-speaking nation must demonstrate that they possess the necessary level of English. We’ll concentrate on IELTS and TOEFL, two English language tests that are approved by institutions all around the world.

Let’s examine the meanings of these names before moving on. The International English Language Testing System is known as IELTS. In addition, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) was created.

To apply to a university, you must take the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic test. You can take these exams at testing facilities in your nation. To learn the price of the tests, get in touch with the test centre in your nation.

Top colleges across the globe accept both exams. However, they differ significantly in terms of test design and question kinds. To select which test you should take and which is best for you, continue reading to learn more about each assessment.

Different sections of IELTS

IELTS Listening

Four recordings are presented two sets in an everyday social context, one set in an educational context, and one that is a university lecture). You must respond to 10 questions after each recording. Multiple choice, matching, diagram labelling, phrase completion, and short answer are a few of the several questions.

IELTS Speaking

You’ll have an oral interview with an examiner for IELTS Speaking. Your comments will be noted. There are three parts to this section.

Part 1: The interviewer will pose common inquiries to the student regarding their jobs, families, studies, and interests.
Part 2: The interviewer will give the student a card with a subject to cover. The interviewer gives the student one minute to prepare before asking two minutes of questions, which the student must then respond to.
Part 3: For four to five minutes, the student and interviewer will continue to detail the subject covered in Part 2.

IELTS Writing

You’ll speak with an examiner orally during the IELTS Speaking test. Your comments will be written down. Three components make up this section.

Part 1: The interviewer will pose the student with common inquiries about their jobs, families, studies, and hobbies.
Part 2: The interviewer will hand the student a card with a subject to cover. After having one minute to prepare, the student must talk for two minutes before responding to one or two follow-up questions from the interviewer.
Part 3: The interviewer and the student will continue to detail the subject covered in Part 2 for four to five minutes.

Reading IELTS

There are three passages for reading, each followed by ten to fifteen questions. The quotations come from periodicals, books, magazines, and news papers. They might use narrative, descriptive, or even persuasive writing as their style. There will be at least one with a thorough justification. One should have key prep-tips to ace IELTS Reading practice.

The question types for the Reading section will be similar to those for the Listening section and include multiple choice, matching, diagram labelling, sentence completion, and short answer.
