    1. Find your niche

    A niche is a part of a market that is defined by the needs, identities, and idiosyncrasies of a market such as gardening enthusiasts or Lord of the Rings fans. Focusing on a small group of people seems counterintuitive. After all, won’t it reduce sales?

    The apparel market seems almost limitless and it can be tempting to sell just about anything. However, I recommend starting small and slow. Adding more products that don’t sell well can eventually lead to extra work like writing product descriptions, organizing photo shoots, and more.

    3. Create a design for your product

    Let’s move on to the creative part – create great designs. There are different methods, but I will present three main ways to create a design.

    Create a design from scratch

    You can experiment with different online modelers to create designs.     Choose a store name that is easy to remember

    Your store name is the first thing potential customers can see and interact with before they see you or your products.

    When designing a logo, use simple colors with no more than three colors and make the text of the logo clear and easy to read. Multiple logos with different colors or gradient colors will not be the same in different cases. Your logo may appear on product labels or packaging, just to name a few. That’s why you should stick with a design that looks the same across different apps.

    6. Set up your clothing store

    Now that you’ve chosen your products and decided where to sell them, you need to take care of the technical side. Having a domain name will make your store look more professional and customers will trust you more

    As a rule, choose a domain name that is similar to your store’s name. You want potential buyers to link your business to your website and easily find you online.

    Similarly, in the case of store names, the shorter your domain name the better. But what if you’re thinking of a great but very long store name?  In that case, remove all unnecessary words like ‘the’ and you will get a domain like this: www.gardengang.com.

    Once you’ve decided on your domain name, go to Google Domains, Namecheap, GoDaddy, or Hover to register it.

    7. Advertise your clothing store

    Time for some marketing magic. To get the first sales and keep them, here’s what you need to focus on.

    Set up a social media account

    A strong social media presence will drive traffic to your store and increase sales. Each platform has its own flair and strength. However, there are some best practices that apply to major platforms and should be considered holistically.

    Continuous. When you sign up with a social media platform, keep your posts and tone consistent. Customers will get used to your voice and schedule, so ensure predictability for them.

    Busy time. Find out what time of day you get the most likes and comments. You want to post at the time that attracts the most attention.

    Insights tool. Some platforms have tools to help you understand how profiles and posts work. Use them to help optimize your content and time.
